Nana and Papa on Vacation in Deerfield, Florida

It seems so strange to be away from our four favorite young people for almost five weeks. The beach here is beautiful. You would love playing in the white sand and swimming in the ocean.

We have met many interesting, fun people which are very different for me. Nana is not one to venture out too far from family and present friends. Papa, on the other hand, loves every bit of it. He is having a grand time with our next door neighbor, Frank. They do puzzles and read the same books. Of course, they have to discuss the book as the second person is reading it. The second person is supposed to attempt to figure out "who done it." It's great to see Papa have so much fun.

I am very happy spending my days just relaxing and basically doing nothing. Bet you're not surprised. It does seem strange to be staying in an apartment for so long. I have never been away from home for this length of time. But I am enjoying spending this time alone with Papa. We go for walks and spend hours and hours just looking at the blue ocean water.

See you in April.

How We Spent Our Monday

Papa and I went on a two hour tour boat ride with a wonderful gent and his wife today. The ride was so peaceful. I loved seeing all the $1,000,000+ homes. We then went to dinner at a really nice restaurant and had a great meal with Harvey and Helen. But most of all, we had such fun listening to them recount stories of things that happened throughout their lives in various places and on various vacations. They are close to eighty, have been married eleven years and are such a cute couple. I hope when Papa and I are their age, we are having as much fun together as they are.

We have met so many wonderful people this month. It is great fun, but when next Tuesday arrives, I will be happy to be on the way home to our family - most especially those four wonders in our lives:~)
Love ya lots,
Miss ya,

Our Trip Down Memory Lane

Hello, my sweet grandchildren. Forty-one years ago this coming September, Nana and Papa were married and spent our honey moon in Miami, Florida. We stayed at the Sherry Frontenac Hotel for a week. While here in Deerfield, we decided to visit Miami and see what the Sherry Frontenac looked like now. Seeing the building was disappointing, but going into the lobby brought back lots of wonderful memories. The pool area didn't look the same to me, but Papa said it did to him. It was fun reminiscing. The Sherry Frontenac is not a place I would stay at now, but seeing it again was well worth the trip.
Love and miss you all,
Lots of hugs and kisses,

Nana and Papa in Florida

Hi family. I thought I would post about how much we are enjoying our month in Florida. We miss all of you, but are enjoying our time alone together. We have gone for walks along the beach, sat looking at the moon's reflection on the ocean and met great people to spend time with and have lots of fun. We have never had the opportunity to do anything like this before. But have found it so relaxing, we are planning on returning next March.

Believe it or not, the only pictures I have taken are of our room. So not like me. It feels great to do something so out of character for me.

I have to say, thank God for web cams. I know it would be extremely difficult not to "see" you for a month. I love and miss you all. See you in a few weeks:~)
Lots of hugs and kisses,

Our Valentine Gift from the Baldwin's

Michelle and family surprised Ken and me with this beautiful picture on Valentine's Day. And I was really surprised. I never expected it. Our boys are getting so big. Zach will be 10 in June - double digits! And Alex will be three in August. I wish time would slow down. Our grandchildren are growing up too fast.

Blue and Gold Banquet - 2009

We had a great time at Zach's Cub Scout Blue and Gold Dinner. After dinner, leaders were recognized and badges were given out to the boys who earned them. Zach is now a Webelos Scout. He made the shield he is holding in one of the pictures. It is his family crest.

Alex was just great sitting for most of the dinner, which is not easy for a two and a half year old boy. The last half hour he was set free and cruised the front of the room. The pictures above were also taken at the dinner.

Kara's First Father Daughter Dance

Kara had her first Father Daughter Dance February 7th. She was dressed like a young lady, matching gloves, purse and all. Family members were allowed to attend the last half hour or so. Papa, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Shell and I got to watch Kara dance with her Dad to Butterfly Kisses and Daddy's Little Girl. It goes without saying my eyes were tearing. It was fun to see Kara having such a good time with her Dad and school friends. They were all dancing fools! One of our little girls is growing up.

But I must add, Emily got all dressed up and spent the latter part of her day out and about with Grandma and Grandpa. She loves to dress up and had a great day and night. You can see her dancing with her Mom in one of the pictures.
Hugs and kisses,
